Choke - Coming September 26th!
Dennis' Choke Review
I saw Choke Monday night at the LA Film Festival. This was the Los Angeles premiere of the movie, and Fox Searchlight Pictures graciously sent me two tickets so that my roommate and I could attend. I'll admit right off the bat, this was a thing I was sort of worried about. It's been almost nine years since our last Chuck Palahniuk movie adaptation. Since Fight Club. During that time, everyone under the sun has tried to get other projects of Chuck's off the ground. From the turbulent aftermath of 9/11, which put a screeching halt on a movie version of 'Survivor'. To the long battle filmmaker Jesse Peyronel has fought to get 'Invisible Monsters' funded. To the rumors that 'Haunted' would be a mini-series for Showtime or HBO.

Here's the description from moviesblog.mtv.com:
We knew it would be special when we visited its set last summer, and now we’re happy to roll out the trailer premiere for “Choke,” the film based on the book by “Fight Club” author Chuck Palahniuk. The movie finds Sam Rockwell as a sex addict who fakes choking episodes at restaurants to con money out of them. The film opens September 26.
'Choke' On This
Chuck’s fourth novel Choke tells the story of Victor Mancini, self-proclaimed sex addict and fake restaurant choker. Turning regular diner patrons into instant “heros,” Victor fakes his way through life, exploiting funds from good Samaritans to keep his old mother from death’s door.
Choke had an approximate 30 day shooting schedule over the summer of 2007. It was budgeted at roughly 2 million dollars, and shot on location in Vernon, New Jersey. It sold on Jan 22nd, to Fox Searchlight Pictures for $5 million. Check out this interview with first-time director Clark Gregg on adapting Choke. Chuck has raved about Gregg's script, and already reviews pouring in from Sundance have been very positive. A little history on Gregg: He wrote the Robert Zemeckis thriller What Lies Beneath and, as an actor, is a regular on the hit TV show The New Adventures of Old Christine. Gregg adapted Choke into screenplay form and has been championing the project for years now. Here is Clark Gregg's IMDB page.
Choke will be released theatrically on September 26th, 2008 in limited release.
