PYGMY: Official Description For Chuck Palahniuk's Next Novel Now On Amazon

Chuck Palahniuk's next book will be "Pygmy". It's not due in stores until May 5, 2009. But the official description just went up on Amazon last week.

"Begins here first account of operative me, agent number 67 on arrival midwestern American airport greater _____ area. Flight _____. Date _____. Priority mission top success to complete. Code name: Operation Havoc."

Thus speaks Pygmy, one of a handful of young adults from a totalitarian state sent to the United States, disguised as exchange students, to live with typical American families and blend in, all the while planning an unspecified act of massive terrorism. Palahniuk depicts Midwestern life through the eyes of this thoroughly indoctrinated little killer, who hates us with a passion, in this cunning double-edged satire of an American xenophobia that might, in fact, be completely justified. For Pygmy and his fellow operatives are cooking up something big, something truly awful, that will bring this big dumb country and its fat dumb inhabitants to their knees.

It's a comedy.

Go Out And Vote!!!

Go Out And Vote!

For me, this is the most important election of my life. Therefore, this is probably one of the most important posts I've ever made on this site. And hey, it's not even Chuck Palahniuk related.

Today is Election Day. This was the longest election campaign in our history, and its impact and consequences on the country can be huge. Simply put, it's a monumental occasion. So all of you need to go out and cast your ballot today. Go vote! I won't lie, I'm voting for Barack Obama. I've been a supporter of his since I first read about him over a year ago. I've even donated to his campaign. This isn't about Obama though. It's not about McCain. It's about you. So don't waste the opportunity this country has given you.

Chuck Palahniuk's November Essay, "A Story from Scratch, Act Two"

/workshop/chucks-essays-2008-35Howdy, folks. Welcome to November. I hope you all had a fun Halloween. I know I did. Today, we continue with, what is easily, one of the best features from Chuck we have ever included on this site. Here's a recap, straight from the horse's mouth:

For the next three essays I'll be presenting three drafts of a short story I'm writing for a Dark Delicacies anthology. Folks have been asking for this kind of in-progress demonstration. Each draft will describe my process and choices -- and the finished, polished version will be out in the actual book.

HAUNTED Has A Director!

Big news hit the net yesterday, which I missed because I was sitting in Jury Duty selection from 8am on. It seems HAUNTED is now on the fast-track to become Chuck Palahniuk's next movie adaptation. Variety reported that the option was acquired by Brian Levy, who has launched a management and production company called New School Media. 'Haunted' will be their first project.

The writer and director is going to Belgium filmmaker Koen Mortier (pictured below). Mortier already has a building filmography listed on the IMDB, but is most noted for his last film 'Ex-Drummer'. Koen is on board to write and direct the adaptation.

CHOKE Movie: Round Table Discussion With Chuck Palahniuk, Clark Gregg & Sam Rockwell!

You'll remember that last month, Borders Books & Music hosted a truly great event that I was privileged to be at. It was a moderated round table discussion between Chuck Palahniuk, Clark Gregg and Sam Rockwell. What made the event so special was that, the three of them were coming off a full day of press. And they were so burned out, that it made them loopy and goofy. This resulted in some hysterical back and forths that had the audience cracking up.

I think you'll consider this one a gem, folks. The link also contains the trailer for CHOKE, as well as a one on one interview with Chuck.

Check out the video here!

Thanks to Samantha Bond and Fox Searchlight Pictures for setting this one up.

This one's a specialty though. Warren Etheridge, of The Warren Report, had the pleasure of interviewing Chuck, as he came through Seattle this year promoting 'Snuff'.
